Most contract specifications\nrequire the submittal of a narrative along with the standard Schedule Reports and\nelectronic file. Part of the narrative typically includes a section that\ndescribes work accomplished during the previous reporting period. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Z\u00fcmmer\u2019s Comparison Reports:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. [27] – Started Activities This Period;
2. [28] – Completed Activities This Period;
3. [31] – Actualization Report and;
4. [35] – Progress Data<\/p>\n\n\n\n

…neatly provides documentation to develop and support the narrative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the illustration below, activities \u201cD\u201d, \u201cE\u201d and \u201cF\u201d started during the reporting period. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Z\u00fcmmer\u2019s Comparison Report [31] – combines started and completed activities. Since Activity \u201cD\u201d started and completed during the same update period, the Actualization Report contains only 5 entries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Z\u00fcmmer\u2019s Comparison Report [35] \u2013 Progress Data \u2013 is used to identify those activities that have “Progressed” in the \u201cModified\u201d Project when compared to the “Control” Project. In Z\u00fcmmer, activities are said to have “Progressed” when any the following events occur:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. An Actual Start is achieved;
2. An Actual Finish is achieved;
3. The Remaining duration of an \u2018In Progress\u2019 activity is reduced;
4. The Remaining duration of an \u2018In Progress\u2019 activity remains the same and the Percent Complete is  increased.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is important to note that\nother sources, experts, or organizations may define \u201cProgress\u201d based on varying\ncriteria, however, in general, the above 4 conditions cover the vast share of\nevents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Progress Data report does not include activities that\nare considered “non-progressive” revisions. In general, these\ninclude:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. Added or Deleted Activities;
2. Changes to Original Duration without a reduction to Remaining Duration;
3. Increases to Remaining Duration;
4. Unchanged Remaining Duration without an increase to Percent Complete.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This report is particularly\nuseful in documenting the Progress Only activities when creating or\ninvestigating “Half Step” schedule updates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Progress Data report combines the following Z\u00fcmmer comparison reports:
[15] – In-Progress Tasks With Reduced Remaining Duration
[31] – Actualization Report (except for added activities)
[33] – Increased Percent Complete (where the Modified Remaining Duration is equaled to or greater than the Control Remaining Duration). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the illustration below, activities shown are considered\n\u201cProgressed\u201d because:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Line Item #1: Activity\u2019s remaining duration decreased.<\/li>
  2. Line Item #2: Activity has completed.<\/li>
  3. Line Item #3: Activity has started.<\/li>
  4. Line Item #4: Activity\u2019s remaining duration has remained the same, yet the % Complete has increased.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
